about

I am hoping this will serve as my personal/professional blog. I am interested in/expect to write about zines and alternative press publications in libraries, library activism, open source technology applications and culture, and lolcats.

Right now most of my professional stuff (talks, interviews, and whatnot) are at my Barnard site and on the zines site. My plan is to bring all the non-zines stuff over here. Some of the zines content will also be moved to a collaborative zine libraries site a few of us are working on.

I do my professional/activist blogging on the Radical Reference site.

Here is a short bio. I expect to make a longer one at some point soon.

The image I'm using as my logo is from Suzuki Beane by Sandra Scoppettone, illustrated by Louise Fitzhugh.

My primary personal/personal outlet is my zine, Lower East Side Librarian. I live in a neighborhood called Alphabet City on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in NYC. My spouse and our cat live two blocks away. If we ever have enough money for a down payment or some other lucky unlikelihood befalls us, we'll move in together in an apartment larger than a suite in a two star hotel.

I am sick to death of email, am terrible about responding to it, and would rather you contact me via IM. Sorry about all the different addresses, but here they are:
AIM: RadReference
Google: leslzine
Jabber.org: jenna
Yahoo: radrefjenna

(Do not send an email to any of the above addresses other than leslzine at gmail. You can email me via the contact form on this site.)

If you want to contact me at work, I'm not hard to find. My name is Jenna Freedman, btw.
