Desk Set in the Sun
Article about Desk Set (Brooklyn librarians) in New York Sun. (I assume the link won't last long. It's from July 5, 2007. Article by Gary Shapiro, "For New-Look Librarians, Head to Brooklyn.")
It's weird; the reporter called me about this Desk Set event, right before it happened. When I saw no mention in the paper immediately before or after the benefit, I figured the story got dropped.
Then about an hour ago I got a call from a Barnard alumna working at The New York Press asking for more info about Desk Set. I told her to talk to a member, but answered her questions as best I could. I referred her to Sarah Gentile, who worked with me in the Barnard zine collection for a semester and who was also quoted in the article.
It's not a bad article about how librarians are hipper than our stereotype. I hope the Press article will go into more detail, though, letting the interviewees geek out a little, like Hua Hsu did in the Boston Globe article about zines.
