Busy weekend!

I hate hate hate the winter and never feel like leaving the house. Then along comes May and all of a sudden there are a million things I want to do outside of the comfort of my own (or Eric's) home.

  • Thursday, May 29 Zine Reading at Bluestockings
This zine will be reviewed in the August Library Journal column, so I thought it would be nice to check it out.
  • Friday, May 30 Critical Mass at 7 and Zine Library Party at ABC No Rio at 9
    • Last month the police didn't bother the ride much, a trend I am hoping to see continue.
    • The No Rio event features Sabrina Jones, a boys' club infiltrating female comics artist and the Rude Mechanical Orchestra. Also Kevin Pyle, who I don't know.
  • Saturday, May 31 some 11th or 12th St block party/BBQ/film night about which my info is a little sketchy
Heard about this from one of my neighbors, so it's likely to be an old school Alphabet City flavored event.
  • Sunday, June 1, Bicycle Film Festival Recycle a Bicycle program at 1pm
If only I had more time this weekend, I'd see more films!

Plus, we might be able to pick up our new kitten on Sunday!

JBeek:

I for one (of many) will be at the Bang On A Can marathon at the World Financial Center from 6PM Staurday to 6AM Sunday, and possibly seeing Wire at south st. seaport on Friday. I heart the river to river festival!

Julie :

i almost brought my kids over to abc no rio for this--as i was alone with them--but i wasn't sure if people would be annoyed at us. one of said kids was interested, though. the other, not so much.

jenna:

Too bad you didn't come. The kids there had a great time dancing to the RMO, eating vegan cupcakes, and playing with backyard treasures. Like a skeleton hand.

Julie :

amazing looking kitten! i had not known about partners, who i first saw on your flickr account. i'm very sorry for your loss.

I have a cat now for the first time in my life--my first time living with an animal. it was hard at first, but now i feel very attached to him--even though he's not even as half as cuddly as you described Partners as being.

Julie:

Damn, there were other kids there? I have always wanted to see the Rude Mechanical Orch, too. Our loss.
